Dog tossed off bridge in Choctaw County recovering after surgery

CHOCTAW COUNTY -- Two teens have now been charged in Choctaw County in connection with a viral dog-tossing video.

The Choctaw County Sheriff Terry Park says an 18-year-old turned himself in Friday afternoon but was booked as juvenile because he was 17 when the dog was thrown off the bridge.

Park says the district attorney's office could still prosecute him as an adult.

Video of what happened went viral when it was posted online Wednesday.

The Sheriff says the 16-year-old behind the camera was arrested Friday morning at Boswell High School. Both are charged with cruelty to animals.

Park says the 18-year-old admitted to throwing the dog off the bridge because she "was fighting with other dogs in the back of the truck," and wouldn't hunt hogs.

Somehow, the dog the teens are accused of tossing off the bridge survived.

Monday, the Atoka animal hospital treating the Pitbull-mix -- now named Miracle -- posted video of her on Facebook.

She's now able to walk but has a cast on her front left leg.

The hospital says surgery on her right side was successful Friday and that her left wrist dislocated during the fall is healing.
