DENISON, TX--- Kids in Denison may soon have a new place to play, thanks to a potential donation from Denison ISD.

Golden Rule Elementary is set to permanently close down at the end of this school year and yesterday,  the school board agreed to hold a public hearing about possibly donating the school's gym, and the land that sits around it, to the Boys and Girls Club of Denison. That would mean the club would have access to about 1.7 acres of land.

"It benefits the boys and girls of Denison," Denison ISD Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott said. "These are the same kids we have in our schools who will be taking advantage of it."

Workers at the club said the land would mainly be used for sports activities. The public  hearing will be held March 18th.
