SHERMAN,TX (UPDATED) ---- Sherman would finally post it's opening for
a head football coach yesterday and the ball is officially rolling.
They'll use Champion Search Firm to find their next lead man, but one thing the opening does not call for is an athletic director.
Current A.D. Tommy Hudspeth says it's common for school districts Sherman's size these days to have the positions split because of the challenges managing so many sports brings.
"I think you can successfully combine it, but you really need to have the right man that can do both and feel strongly about both and so at this point right now, we're just advertising for the head football coach and then the other will be determined at a later time," he said.
Sherman ISD sent out a press release Thursday evening regarding it's search for a new head football coach.
It states: "Sherman ISD officially posted the position for the Sherman High School head football coach on Thursday. District administrators have enlisted the services of a professional search firm to recruit and filter through all the applicants, and they are looking to the community for input.
"We are excited about this opportunity, and we're really looking forward to engaging our parents and students in this search process," said Dr. Al Hambrick, SISD superintendent.
Sherman ISD will host a community meeting on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Little Theater at Sherman High School. The meeting is open to the public, and district officials hope that anyone with an interest in SHS football will attend. Champion Search firm will lead the meeting, facilitate discussion, and explain the search process in more detail. Sherman ISD hopes to have a new coach selected by April 1."
