Bond Set For Man Arrested In Texoma High-Speed Chase

ATOKA, OK -- Bond has been set for a man from Highland Park, Tex., who is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase on Sunday.

Christopher Burton, 39, faces charges of attempting to elude, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest in Atoka County and endangering the public while eluding an officer and resisting an officer in Bryan County, officials said.

He's being held in the Atoka County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office.

Troopers say Burton appeared to be high on drugs and was going 110 miles-per-hour when he refused to pull over for a Denison police officer, and later crashed trying to avoid stop sticks near Tushka.

Witnesses say sparks from a flat tire started grass fires along the highway near Caney.
