SHERMAN, TX -- Dozens packed a fundraiser for a Sherman woman struggling with cancer.

The Saturday night benefit at the Municipal Building was held for Courtney Gann Flores and included barbeque and a live auction.

The wife of a Sherman police officer, she used to work at a bank in Plano until family members say she became ill and was diagnosed with cancer of the small intestine seven months ago. She has been undergoing chemotherapy and had to stay at home on Saturday.

"It's very much the rollercoaster that they explained to us before this ever started, every day, hour to hour can be different, but she's still responding to treatment so we're fortunate that the plan that the doctors have given us is still taking effect and working," says husband Zachary Flores.

The couple has two children ages two and seven and Mr. Flores says he is grateful for the support of the community, including his fellow officers with the Sherman Police Association.
