Disaster Declaration Requested For Choctaw And Pushmataha Counties

HUGO, OK -- Governor Mary Fallin requests a disaster declaration in southeast Oklahoma.

The state is requesting a major disaster declaration for Choctaw, Pushmataha, McCurtain, and Le Flore counties, according to a statement from Fallin's office.

The ice storm from Dec. 5 to Dec. 12 caused an estimated $6.5 million in infrastructure damage and response costs, Fallin said.

If approved, federal funding would go to the state, towns, counties, and rural electric cooperatives to help with repairs.
