DURANT -- The cards are flying in Durant for the World Series of Poker circuit.

The Choctaw Casino is one of many stops on the circuit.

The tournaments run January 2-20.

Thousands of poker players are trying to qualify for this summer's World Series of Poker even in Las Vegas.

"The first place in the main event is going to be $250,000, a quarter of a million or more. That's exciting. I know I'd like to win," organizer Bill Bruce said.

Circuit organizers say there's been several high points in the games so far including an Austin-area resident and recreational poker player who won the second largest event in the World Series of Poker Circuit's 10-year history. He beat out 2,867 players and turned his $125 buy-in into more than $122,000.
