Fiber Optic Cable Snaps And Forces Lake Texoma Bridge Shutdown

Posted:

BRYAN COUNTY, OK -- OHP says high winds were the cause of a snapped fiber optic line today.

The downed wire caused the Roosevelt Bridge over Lake Texoma to be shut down around 2 p.m.

Power crews were called out to the east side of the bridge, where the line was laying across the roadway.  After checking to see what wire it was, it turned out to be a Chickasaw Telephone fiber optic cable.

Motorists were forced to wait and the road was re-opened around 3:45 p.m.  Traffic was narrowed to one lane around 6 p.m. to repair the cable.
