Cartwright Fire Latest In String Of Arsons

CARTWRIGHT, OK -- Firefighters in Cartwright say a Christmas morning fire in an abandoned structure is the latest in a string of arsons in the area.

Assistant chief of the Cartwright fire department David Bray says about 10 firefighters responded to a call of a structure fire near the corner of Archibald and South Fourth street around 1 AM Christmas morning.

Bray says the probable cause of the fire is arson and is under investigation by the state fire marshal's office.

"We arrived noticed the rear door of the house and part of a back room was on fire," said Bray. "It was quickly extinguished with minimal damage to the house."

No one was hurt because the home was abandoned.

Bray says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
