New Habitat For Humanity Home Dedicated In Denison

DENISON, TX -- A family of three is ecstatic about getting a new home in Denison.

Habitat for Humanity is selling the new $55,000 home on Florence and Mirick with a 25-year zero-interest mortgage to a woman whose daughter and granddaughter also will live there.

The charity says about 200 different people came out to help build the house during the past three months until the ice storm stopped them cold.

"It put us behind about a week because we couldn't work that Saturday and the work's only done two days a week, Wednesday and Saturday, so it kind of put us behind a little bit there's a few last minute touches to get done but it will get done," says new homeowner Lenita Fogarty.

Fogarty, who is an assistant at a drug treatment business in Sherman, plans to move in soon and she says her daughter is an aspiring educator who is looking for a teacher position.

The next Grayson County Habitat build will be in Pottsboro and that will be their 29th house.
