Ardmore Police Officers Shop With Local Children

ARDMORE, OKLAHOMA -- Christmas came a little early for some lucky kids in Ardmore Tuesday night.

Police officers helped them get into the holiday spirit by taking about a dozen kids out to "Shop with a Cop."

Squad cars rolled up to the Wal-Mart in Ardmore, with lights flashing and sirens blaring, on their way to raid the toy department.

The kids hopped out and grabbed their carts as officers tagged along.

Police say they've been doing the "Shop with a Cop" event for the last 18 years, thanks to help from the public and local businesses.

"It's all about the kids and bringing them here and giving the kids who are less fortunate who might not have a Christmas to be able to have a Christmas," said Captain Kevin Norris. "And as you can see, all the officers they love it. Our families come with us and we have a great time and we're so thankful that we're able to do this. "

Ardmore police officers say they shopped with 100 kids this year.
