Angel Tree Adoptions Desperately Needed in Grayson and Carter County

Posted:

TEXOMA--- This weekend's ice storm has caused major havoc for the Grayson and Ardmore Salvation Army. Not only have they lost thousands of dollars worth of projected donations from their bell ringing, but they're also falling short on Angel Tree adoptions.

The Angel Tree program works to help underprivileged families by providing them with the items they need and want to make their Christmas special. The items are donated from community members and so far, lots of families have not been taken care of.

The Ardmore Salvation Army said less than half of their families have been adopted and the Grayson County Salvation Army said a little more than half of their families have been adopted.

If you want to participate, all you have to do is go to one of the Angel Tree locations, pick up a tag with a family's wants and needs on it, buy at least one of the gifts on their tag and then return their gift to the location where you picked up the tag. You can also leave the gift at the Christmas Center. The Grayson County Christmas Center is located at 300 South Armstrong Ave. in Denison. The Carter County Christmas Center is located at 123 A SW Street.

The Grayson County Angel Trees are located at the Denison Walmart and Sherman's Walmart, JCPenney and Midway Mall. The Carter County Angel Trees are located at the Sulphur Walmart and Ardmore's Walmart, Mountain View Mall, Stage, Denny's, YMCA, American National Bank and Citizens Bank.

The deadline for returning the gifts is this Saturday for Grayson County and next Wednesday for Carter County.
