2013 Davis Wolves feel closer than last year's state finalists

DAVIS, OK -- The Wolves are back; 12-0 just like they were at this point last year and continuing to work their way through the Class 2A playoffs.

They survived a tough Christian Heritage squad Saturday afternoon despite several mistakes.

They're working to clean those up this week before their third round rematch against Adair.

The Warriors put the Wolves on the ropes last year as Davis would escape one point winners.

As they head into this Friday night showdown the players and coaches say this year's Wolves team is much more of a pack than last's.

"I think we don't have as many individual athletes as we did last year, not as many talented ones. But the way that we come to work together as a team - I really think that's pretty good," senior tight end and defensive end Ty Milligan said.

"This team is completely different because we have so many new guys. They're not new anymore, they've played 12 ball games, but I like this football team, just like I've liked all of our teams. This is my favorite one right now," senior safety and running back Paxton Killblane would add.

"I think because we don't have as many individual athletes, we've got more of a team here instead of just certain stars at positions we all work together as a team and focus up," head coach Jody Weber concluded.

They'll kick from Davis at 7:30 p.m. Friday
