Did you see this on KTEN News Midday? Local artists, Dustin Perkins and Chase Sanford sat down with Lisanne to talk about the Po Boys Picnic coming up Saturday November 16, 2013 at Loy Lake Park in Denison. Great family fun, amazing local musicians and all to help a little 4 year old girl from Pottsboro battling brain cancer.

Charity begins at home, so the sages say. And so says the organizers of the twice-yearly Po Boys Picnic, the organization that attempts to offer what financial help it can to a local resident or family which has been struck by illness. And the organizers raise that money the old-fashioned way, by providing a day of activity including live music, children's activities, auctions, and income from vendors and donations at the door. This next endeavor will be all afternoon and into the evening of Saturday, Nov. 16, in a covered arena at Loy Lake Park. The designated recipient of this event is the Pottsboro family of 4-year-old Brooke Staley, who has been diagnosed with brain cancer. A music lover herself, Brooke entertained her family by her constant singing before the disease struck her, friends said. The Po Boys Picnic will include, for the kids, free bounce houses, a little britches rodeo with mutton bustin' and calf scramble, a wild piglet sacking; for the adults, a chili cook-off, a horseshoe tournament, and live and silent auctions; and for the music lover in Brooke and all of us, music from Chance Cody & Spur 503, the Chase Sanford Band, Zack Jones & The Backbones, Tripwire, and Wasetta Switch.
