Ardmore Celebrates Annual Veteran Day Ceremony

ARDMORE, OK-- They've served our country and today across the nation millions of veterans were honored.  Ardmore joined the celebration, hosting an event at the Veterans center.

There were dozens of people, children, and even animals came together to honor veterans today at the Ardmore Veteran Center.

"I think it's great, it's an honor, I'm glad people still feel the same way, especially the younger people," Larry Webb, Air force veteran.

Webb served in the Air Force and says he learned a lot during his time in the military, and it's something he'll always be proud of.

"Just knowing that I served my country and you now that's important, I believe everybody should do it," said Webb.

The service included patriotic songs played by the Ardmore High School band.
"Words can't bring us, Ii look forward to it every year, a grateful day for veterans that have sacrificed," Army Veteran Robert Dembski.

Dembski says he feels honored that so many people from the community showed up to honor millions of soldiers just like him.
"It means so much to me, the best part is seeing this crowd come out, that people remember with us, that they're with us, that's what I think means the most," said Dembski.

Guest speakers recognized those who served and those who lost their life. Among those that gave a speech is Dr. Arlen Fowler an army veteran.

"I have a long history of doing things like this and I really appreciate what they all have done," said Fowler.

For everyone in attendance, it was a time of reflection and remembrance.
