SHERMAN, TX -- A grand jury has indicted a Denison woman accused of child abuse.

Elizabeth Turner, 28, is charged with injury to a child. According to court documents, her 17-month-old son's brain atrophied and he was found in condition of a six- to nine-month old due to malnutrition, even though they lived yards away from a grocery store on West Crawford Street.

On March 31, officers were called to a disturbance at Texoma Medical Center, and found the child with severe bruising and cigarette burns, police reports stated.

The boy was taken to a Dallas hospital and two other kids were also placed in foster care. Turner's bond was set at $50,000 and she was ordered to stay 1,000 yards away from her son and also stay away from any other children.
