Ardmore Tigers want first district title since the Gresham days

ARDMORE, OK -- There are shades of 2005 over at Noble Stadium. That's when big number two Jermaine Gresham helped carry the team to their last district championship.

The 2013 group has been a great success story, winning seven straight, with only one loss coming by two points to Durant.

Another thing they haven't done since 2005 is beat Lawton McArthur, coincidentally the team they have to beat Friday.

If they can get it done, you better believe Ardmore will be right back on the map as a state power.

"We want to come back to returning to dominance like Ardmore used to be," senior Tiger linebacker and receiver Jamarcus Mills said.

"I think it will help us. We're always the underdog everybody thinks we'll fall out, but we're here to show everybody we've changed this year and we're taking it all," senior Tiger linebacker Brenden Hemenway added.

"They've invested an awful lot of  time and an awful lot of commitment, they've played well together and I think it's been a goal of theirs since they became Tigers. So, certainly been a goal of mine. But it's here and we're going to get after it and do the best we can," head coach Doug Wendel concluded.

Kick-off from Noble Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
