Whitesboro wants first outright district title in program history

WHITESBORO, TX -- The Whitesboro Bearcats are used to making program history by now. Just two years ago the program ended a century long playoff drought.

Now they have a chance to win their first out right district title.

They'll have their hands full Friday night hosting Boyd, but the prospect of taking the 5-2A crown has them emotionally charged.

"There's not many gold footballs in our trophy case, and to be able to add another one into there is pretty special," head coach Eddie Gill said.

"I've played football with these guys ever since we could sign up and it would just mean everything, everything that we've worked for since the start of our 7th grade year up until now," senior corner back Devin Schares added.

"To finally just bring it home, the outright district championship is what we say in Whitesboro. We don't want anything on our t-shirts is what we say," senior corner back and receiver Dale Bailey concluded.

They'll kick 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
