SUWANEE, Ga. (ACRoos.com) – Austin College football player James Nwankpah has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week, the league office has announced.
Nwankpah, a senior running back from Arlington, carried the ball 23 times for 202 yards in a 45-38 victory over Hendrix College on Saturday. Nwankpah averaged 8.8 yards per carry and scored on a career-long 57 yard touchdown run, helping to vault him into second place in the conference in rushing yards on the year.
Saturday's performance marks the third time in the past four games that Nwankpah has surpassed the 100 yard mark, having previously rushed for 149 yard against Southwestern and 102 yards against Southwestern Assemblies of God, both of which were wins for the 'Roos. Nwankpah has now rushed for 570 yards in all this season.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
