DENISON, TX -- A Denison woman has died of injuries she sustained in a car wreck in Fannin County.

According to DPS, it happened Oct. 15 around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 82, east of F.M. 1743 near Bonham. Charla Patti, 49, was traveling eastbound when her SUV crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck that was pulling a trailer, troopers said.

She died on Thursday at a Plano hospital. Family members say had been having some health issues and was headed to visit grandkids in Pittsburg, Tex., when she hydroplaned.

"It'd been going downhill and everything and we had a new grandbaby about a month and a half ago, and she just after losing her mother had just given up. It was one of them days where she wanted to do something, and she just took off and the good lord called her home," says Johnny Michael Patti, her husband of 28 years.

Family members say they're now left trying to figure out how to pay for Charla Patti's funeral. Troopers say the other driver William Heid, 32, of Melissa was also hurt in the crash, which happened in rainy weather.
