GRAYSON CO. -- Texas' District 13-4A is a mess. Three teams tied for first, three more tied in fourth, and Royse City and Greenville left all but out of it.
Heading into last Friday, Denison was in the district driver's seat, but their 56-42 road loss to last year's 13-4A champ has them knotted up with Wylie and Wylie East.
Sherman meanwhile is working their way back into it. They're 2-2 in district play and tied for that final playoff spot with Lovejoy and McKinney North.
It's too complicated right now to speculate, so for now we'll sit back and watch it unravel.
"A lot of even teams, some teams have really good defense, some teams have a really good offense, but there's really not that one team that has both right now, and just everything matters in everbody's mind," senior Bearcat running back Tre Mask said.
"This is not a district that you can say, 'well, you beat that guy, you beat that guy, you can beat this guy.' You don't start comparing that stuff like that. You've got to worry about one game at a time and you got to get better, we have to get better," Denison head coach Chad Rogers added.
Sherman will take on Lovejoy Friday night at Bearcat Stadium, while Denison will host Wylie. Both kick-offs at 7:30.
