DENISON, TX -- Bikers rode through parts of three Texoma counties on Sunday, and it was all for a good cause.

The 6th Annual Ride for the Red -- red as in American Red Cross-- was held to benefit the Texoma Area Chapter.

Participants woke up bright and early to get to Loose Wheels Texas around 7 a.m. on Sunday, before setting out on their journey. The first stop was breakfast at the lakeside VFW post at Lake Bonham. Organizers say about 85 bikes were part of the procession.

"It's amazing, it just warms your heart to know these guys are all doing it for the Red Cross and trying to make a difference," says Red Cross Texoma Area Chapter board member Sara Jerome. "We go to Bonham and we do all the back roads, and we come back through the back roads and go to Van Alstyne, and that covers Fannin County and then we come back through Grayson County and go to Cooke County over towards Gainesville, and then back here for the party and we give away our trailer."

There was also a chili cook-off and a live band. The event raises about $25,000 each year, which stays in the local chapter, Jerome said.
