COLLIN COUNTY, TX -- A second person has died after a structure collapse near Anna that may have been partly caused by the weather.

It happened around 5 p.m. on Friday on F.M. 2862, just northeast of town. Deputies say an older couple was working on a barn when strong winds blew the roof off and it flipped on top of them.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken to Medical Center of McKinney, where deputies say he died from his injuries around 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Witnesses say there had been a brief burst of bad weather. "When I came home after work and everything, there was trees down on our property and I've got some fences down, so there was some weather that went through," says nearby resident Scott Fillebrown. "I wasn't here for it. My daughter was over at a friend's house that is pretty close to here and she said that hard winds came through."

Neighbors say the couple was there about a year and had plans to build a house.

There were no warnings issued by the National Weather Service, which says the barn was more than 60 years old and had part of the siding removed, making it easier for the wind to get inside and destroy the roof.
