The KTEN news team welcomed Markie Martin in June of 2013 as its new weekend anchor and Ada reporter. A 2012 graduate of the University of Richmond, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Latin American and Iberian Studies.
Upon graduating, Martin was hired onto Gov. Mitt Romney's Press Advance team. In this role, she traveled with the campaign and coordinated everything from national press to the candidates' one-on-one interviews. With the sporadic work hours that come with having a front-row seat to a campaign trail, Martin knows she is well prepared to handle those that come with local news.
Martin has always had passion for a good story, and feels that journalism is not only personally fulfilling, but also that it gives back to the community in a positive way.
Originally from Dallas, TX, Martin considers her real home to be Ada, OK, where she lived the majority of her childhood. Go Cougars! Being from small-town Oklahoma, she appreciates the solid sense of community that comes with it. Martin is excited to report from her hometown, and begin her career with the KTEN family.
Traveling, reading, writing, Zumba, entertaining and watching her favorite celebrity chef Ina Garten on the Food Network are just a few of her favorite things she enjoys in her spare time. If you ever have any good story ideas, please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
