GUNTER, TX -- Highway 289 is back open after being closed for a short time Monday after a semi truck fire south of Gunter.

The small grass fire, which was sparked by a truck carrying gravel a little before 2 in the afternoon on Monday, was located just south of Foy Wallace Road on the southbound shoulder.

Gunter firefighters say the driver was not hurt and they do not know what sparked the fire. Highway 289 was reopened about a half hour later.

"Well when it's this dry, you just need to not burn outdoors," said Mark Miller, a Gunter firefighter. "Except, for barbeque pits and things like that. You don't need to be burning brush piles and that type of thing. Don't be throwing cigarette butts on the side of the road. Just be cautious cause even though its green, its quite burnable."

It's unknown what sparked the fire. Highway 289 was reopened about a half hour later.
