Suspect wanted after double homicide in Choctaw County
HUGO, OK [Aug 04, 2013 12:43 PM CDT] -- Authorities are looking for a suspect after a late-night shooting in Choctaw County left two men dead. Officials say the shooting happened on Saturday night at an apartment.

A woman who lives next door to the apartment where the shooting happened says she heard loud noises. "Just glass breaking, like somebody banging on the window," says neighbor Felicia Davidson.

"She called me and said she heard somebody beating on the window so I came up here and I looked around and I didn't see anybody," says witness Cody Morgan. "I seen neighbors standing outside. And that's when the cops showed up."

According to the OSBI, Hugo police were called around 11 p.m. on Saturday to the Southwind Acres Apartments off South 15th Street. They found Floyd Clegg, 23, of Colbert, and Qualin Hayden, 19, of Sherman, and they had been shot multiple times.

"The suspect came in through the door of a woman who lives in an apartment complex there," says OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown. "She had a couple of people over."

"It's ridiculous, pretty much a kid was killed," says Morgan.

The OSBI says suspect Dawalyon Rainey, 33, of Hugo, goes by the nickname "Hog." Agents say that a witness told them that the suspect came into the apartment and shot both men, and then ran away.

Both victims were taken to the nearby Choctaw Memorial Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

"I don't know that he knew the victims," says Brown. "I believe that several other witnesses knew him or knew of him and that's why they were able to identify him for us."

"They said the guy that done the shooting had ran out in between those apartments over there across the street," says witness David Lewis. "They had the pickup with those big four lights on the back of it and they were shining and searching on the ground, both places, over here and over there too."

"There were police everywhere. There was ambulances, there was all kinds of activity over here until real late," says Davidson.

Now, after a violent night, some neighbors consider themselves lucky. "It's kind of spooky right here this close to home. I mean my mother just lives what, 40 yards across there, and all those bullets flying. I mean, she could have gotten hit too," says Lewis.

"It's scary. It's real scary. We live in a small town, but it can happen anywhere," says Davidson.

According to the OSBI, Rainey is being considered armed and dangerous. He is facing two first degree murder warrants and a $5 million bond. Anyone with information is asked to call Hugo Police or the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.

The following information was released by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation:

"OSBI agents and Hugo Police are searching for Dawaylon Bernard Rainey, a.k.a. "Hog", (d.o.b. 5/18/1980) for the murders of two men Saturday night in Hugo.

Hugo Police received a 9-1-1 call after 11 p.m. about the shooting. When officers arrived at 541 Southwind Acres apartment complex, they found two men had been shot multiple times. Twenty-three-year-old Floyd Devin Clegg, of Colbert, and 19-year-old Qualin Hayden, of Sherman, Texas, were transported to Choctaw Memorial Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead. The two were at the apartment visiting a friend.

A witness at the scene told agents about 11 p.m. Rainey came in the apartment and shot both men. Rainey then fled the area on foot.

Rainey, of Hugo, is a black male, stands 6' 2" tall, and weighs approximately 175 pounds. An arrest warrant has been issued for two counts of first degree murder. Bond has been set at $5,000,000. If you know where officers can find Rainey, call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017 or the Hugo Police Department."
