60 Busted In Oklahoma For Involvement In National Prostitution Ring

OKLAHOMA --  The FBI announced today that agents arrested 60 people, including 13 pimps and three underage prostitutes, in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

It's all part of a three-day sweep targeting child prostitution and human trafficking.  The arrests were part of a national raid in 76 cities called "Operation Cross Country Seven."

During the raid, U.S. authorities rescued 105 children who were coerced into prostitution and arrested 150 pimps.

According to the FBI,  the 60 arrests in Oklahoma include 13 pimps as well as men who frequented the prostitutes.  Three of the prostitutes were underage.

"No one advertises that they're 15, or 14, or 16. They all advertise as being overage," said Gary Johnson, OKC FBI.  "And quite frankly, the exploiters target the underage ones because that's the easiest ones for them to do that.

It's much more difficult to exploit a 25-year-old prostitute. It's a lot easier to exploit a 15-year-old or 17-year-old runaway."

Officials say the underage girls have been placed in the local juvenile court system.
