DENISON, TX -- "I recycle,” said Vincent Shores, Denison resident. “Pretty much anything I have in the house that's recyclable, I recycle it.” Recycling hasn't always been an option for people who live in Denison, but last year the city started a new program that offers curbside pick-up. "I just need about two or three more bins actually,” said Shores. “I have to borrow my neighbor's." "I love it,” said Tammy Ford of Denison, “I would have never done it if it wasn't right at my curb side, I...More >>

BRYAN COUNTY, OK---- School begins for many students in about a month and, as many parents know, getting a child ready for the upcoming school year can be pricey. From new clothes to new school supplies, expenses can often add up and sometimes parents can't keep up. Now, Families Feeding Families is trying to help.

The Durant non-profit is currently accepting donated school supplies for their 10th Annual Back2School Backpack Supply Drive. This year, they're asking for backpacks (character, sturdy or mesh/clear), pencils, pens (black or blue), colored/map pencils, 24 count crayons, red pens, pink erasers, spiral notebook(s), loose leaf paper, 3 ring binders, 2-‐6 2 pocket folders, glue, glue sticks, scissors, rulers, pencil sharpeners, $1 calculators and markers.

"The kids are typically very excited and very, very thankful for the backpacks," volunteer Tish Burkhalter said. "We watch moms and dads and grandparents come in and you can see the tears come into their eyes because they don't have to deal with it anymore. They don't have to worry about it, they know that this need has been met."

Donations can be dropped off at several locations throughout Durant.

Hope Chest, (Mon. -‐ Thurs.), from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Families Feeding Families, 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Bryan Bapist Association, call to schedule a pickup (580) 230-9142

Backpacks will be given out on August 1st.
