PITTSBURG COUNTY, OK -- Troopers say a woman is dead after her car ran into a lake.

According to a preliminary Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Ila Brown, 60, of Checotah, was headed west on Route 9 just west of Longtown around 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The car ran off the road to the right, overcorrected, struck a guard rail on the left, and then went down a rough rip-rap surface and into Lake Eufala, troopers said.

The car was found a couple feet from shore in water about 10 feet deep. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
