American Legion And TCOG To Hold Homeless Vet Barbecue Benefit

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Combined efforts by the Texoma Council of Governments and the American Legion have resulted in a benefit for homeless veterans this Sunday.

The event will raise donations that will help needy veterans and their families transition out of homelessness and into permanent housing.

The barbecue benefit will be held at the American Legion building at 419 W. Crawford Street in Denison from 1pm to 4pm at $5.00 per plate.  All proceeds will assist with rent and essential household items.

You can also make a Paypal donation on TCOG's website:  http://www.texoma.cog.tx.us/

"It's for our homeless vets," said Commander Jackie Judkins.  "Veterans come back a lot of times they don't have a place to go to.  They're not looking for a hand out they're just looking for a hand up.  We're going to try to do our part to give them a hand up."

Both organizations say that benefits like this are the least they can do for those who put their lives on the line to defend our country.
