DENISON, TX -- It was a beautiful day to run for a good cause, and that's just what a lot of people did in Denison.

The Lone Star Lodge held a 5-kilometer run to benefit cupcake store owner Buffy Hanson. Organizers say more than 200 runners took part, raising about $4,000 for Hanson, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in January.

They say they wanted to do something to help the single mother of three kids who's now in the fight of her life.

"You have all these people out here who help you and buy dinner for you or bring you things that you don't know who these people are, and it's just so nice," says daughter Macy Clum.

Friends say Hanson is in the hospital being treated for an infection. Clum says Hanson has chemotherapy every three weeks and is scheduled to undergo a double mastectomy next month.
