Man Accused of Killing Grayson County Deputy Indicted

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX---- The man police said was behind the wheel of a car that hit and killed a Grayson County Sheriff's Deputy has been indicted on numerous charges.

Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown said in total, 28-year-old Ricky Stanley is facing seven charges. Those charges are murder, intoxicated manslaughter, death of peace officer and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

"We wanted to get them filed as quickly as we could," said Brown. "Just the seriousness of the offense and the fact that he was already out on bond when he committed these new offenses shows the seriousness of it. We felt it was important to move quickly."

Investigators said Stanley ran into Deputy Key on Highway 82 and Bethany Road while he was directing traffic. Key was rushed to the hospital, but died a short time later. Stanley remains behind bars at the Fannin County Jail. Brown said he's expected in court in the next few weeks for his initial appearance.
