DENISON, TX -- Some veterans were treated to a special lunch and some music as part of a yearly fundraising picnic.

The Masonic Lodge on South Austin Avenue held a special picnic with food, drink, and music under the trees behind the lodge on Saturday afternoon.

The lodge members also coordinated with the VA Hospital in Bonham, and about 25 inpatient residents were brought in by bus to enjoy the event.

"We recognize them with a time to come out and have lunch with us and just to get to shake their hands and tell them thanks for their service and appreciate who they are and to kind of give them some recognition," says lodge member Bob Followell.

A few different types of barbeque meat were available. The event serves as an annual fundraiser for the lodge and also helps welcome the arrival of summertime weather.
