JOHNSTON COUNTY, OK -- A minor earthquake has been reported in the area of Johnston County, according to a report on the U.S. Geological Survey website.

The quake measured a magnitude of 3.3 and occurred around 10:06 p.m. near Mannsville, the web page stated. It was estimated to have shook at 3.1 miles below the surface.

Several callers to KTEN and local sheriff departments in Johnston County and Marshall County reported feeling a tremor or explosion around that time.

This level quake is considered minor on the Richter Scale as one that is often felt by people, but rarely causes damage. It is estimated about 100,000 of these earthquakes occur each year.
