BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern pitchers Jacee Bennett and Mindy McElroy join head coach Ron Faubion to highlight a group of eight Savage Storm players and coaches to earn Great American Conference accolades.

Faubion was named the league's coach of the year, while Bennett earned Pitcher of the Year honors and McElroy was named Newcomer of the Year.

Bennett and McElroy were also named first team all-conference pitchers and were joined on the first team by catcher Courtney Moore.

Second baseman Jessica Simmons, shortstop Lacie Cook and outfielder Laramie Beal were each named second team all-conference selections.

Outfielder Courtney Riddle rounded out the SE honors with an honorable mention selection.

The Savage Storm head into the GAC tournament with a 40-7 record and completed conference season with a 25-3 mark to earn its first GAC regular season championship.

Faubion picks up his fifth career conference Coach of Year honor, winning three while guiding SE in the Lone Star Conference and another one while heading Missouri Southern State in the MIAA. He took home the honor in 2000, 2008 and 2009 while coaching Southeastern and in 2001 while at MSSU.

He recently picked up his 700th collegiate win during a series sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma State and his 701-277 record puts him among the elite Division II coaches, joining a group of less than 20 that have reached that number. The wins also lift his career record across college and high school to 1,180-394 with a .750 winning percentage all-time.

Bennett becomes the first Storm pitcher to win GAC Pitcher of the Year honors, but brings home the eighth conference pitcher of the year honor to SE.

Bennett, a sophomore from Colbert, Okla., wrapped up the regular season with 20-4 record and a 2.32 ERA in 38 appearances with 19 starts and 157 innings pitched. Over that span she tossed six complete games and combined on four total shutouts. She also struck out 175 hitters and has held opposing hitters to a .246 batting average.

She also earned five GAC Pitcher of the Week honors throughout the season and was the NFCA National Pitcher of the Week after SE's NFCA D-II Leadoff Classic Championship.

McElroy, a junior from Ringling, Okla., was named GAC Pitcher of the Week once this season and leads the league with a 1.74 ERA.

She has bolstered her record to 18-2 on the year and has 35 appearances with 26 starts and has pitched 148.2 innings. She has five complete games and has combined on four shutouts.

McElroy also boasts a .244 opponent's batting average with 85 strikeouts.

Moore is hitting .391 on the season and leads the team with 40 RBI. She has a team-best 52 hits on the season and has added 12 doubles and four home runs. She is slugging .571 and has drawn 16 walks and has been hit by a pitch 15 times and carries a .500 on-base percentage.

Simmons, a freshman from Bethel, Okla., is hitting .333 on the year with 44 hits including seven doubles and 14 RBI out of the leadoff spot. She has scored a team-best 42 runs and leads the GAC in stolen bases with 31.

Cook, a junior from Collinsville, Okla., is hitting .317 on the year with 44 hits including 12 doubles, a triple and a home run. She has driven in 22 runs and scored 27 of her own. She also leads the team in sacrifice hits with 16.

Beal, a freshman from Coalgate, Okla., is batting .317 on the year as well with 32 hits that include eight doubles, a triple and a team-high seven home runs. She has also driven in 29 runs and scored 16 of her own. She slugs .624 which is good for second on the team.

Riddle, a redshirt-freshman from Irving, Texas, leads the team in hitting and would be second in the conference if she met the at-bat minimums. Her .456 average leads the team and her 36 hits include eight doubles, a triple and two home runs. She has knocked in 25 RBI and scored 21 runs. She also slugs a team-best .658 and carries a team-high on-base percentage of .511.
