Sherman High School Teacher To Retire After 35 Years

SHERMAN, TX -- After 35 years at the same school, a teacher has decided it is time to retire, but not before friends and colleagues gathered to wish her well.

They stopped by First United Methodist Church to say good-bye to Sherman High School teacher Karla Graham at a retirement party on Thursday afternoon.

Graham used to lead the drill team, then taught psychology, sociology, and a leadership class. She says when she graduated from Sherman High in 1974, she never imagined she would return to teach there.

"Right now, I am teaching many of my former students' children, so that ages you, you feel like it's time to go," says Graham.

Graham says she plans to spend more time with her 2-year-old grandson and at Twin Oaks Nursery, which is run by her husband.
