Teenager Charged with Arson in Ada House Fire

ADA, OK-- A 15 year old has been charged on three separate counts for intentionally setting his home on fire while his father was inside asleep.

"It's just a Ludicrous act," said Ada Resident Diana Carey.

That's Carey's reaction when she found out that the home her aunt used to own was now a crime scene.

Investigators said a 15-year old boy and a 14-year-old purposely set fire to the 15 year-Old's home. Authorities said the boy's admitted  they knew the teen's father was inside sleeping.

The father uses a wheelchair to get around, but somehow managed to make it out of the burning house through the front door.

Ada Fire Marshal Justin Priest said it didn't take him long to realize the fire was intentional.

"I found three points of origin, one being the south side which was under the window, the other was at the interior garage door leading from the interior of the house to the garage, and the third was at the front door," said Priest.

According to a police affidavit, the 15-year old intended to do more than just burn his father alive.

Investigators said his original plan was to lock his father in his wheel chair and slice his neck. Then two boys planned to put his body in the bathtub to make it look like an accident.

According to the affidavit, the teen had been planning the crime for about a month now.
He's been charged on three separate counts as a youthful offender.

The charges include first degree arson, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Diana Carey said she thinks both of the boys should be held accountable for their actions.

"They should be tried as adults, it was premeditated he had a summary written out on what his intents were to do to his father," said Carey.
