INDEPENDENCE, MO -- This weekend close to 1,500 wrestlers from all over America converged on Independence, Mo. looking for national gold.
Plainview Middle School's Garrett Willis proved he is the best 125-pound eighth grader in the U.S., putting another award in his already overflowing trophy case.
Call him a prodigy, Willis is one of only a handful of wrestlers in Oklahoma history to win three-straight junior high state championships. If he wins a fourth as a ninth grader next season, he'll be one of five in the history of the state to win four.
Fellow Indian wrestlers Zac Atencio and Tanner O'Neil also made the trip. Both would place.
