DENISON, TX--- It's an exciting time for the city of Denison. Within the next two months, more than ten new businesses will be opening downtown, in the area surrounding Main Street.

Cash registers are ringing and employees are working hard at one of the newest openings in downtown Denison.

"We are excited to be open and hopeful that people will start coming in," BG Treasures employee Willis Brock said.

BG Treasures is just one of eleven new businesses opening this Spring around Main Street.

"We've got a little bit of everything," Brock said. "We've got a lot of new stuff and a lot of used stuff."

Main Street Director Donna Dow said so far, a few of the stores are open, but that the rest will be ready soon.

"We're very excited about it and looking forward to it and hoping that they add new energy," Dow said.

Many of them are moving into lots that have been vacant for years and Dow said the grand openings couldn't have come at a better time.

"It's just a good time of the year," Dow said. "We're looking forward to "Music on Main" this Summer and then the businesses should be in place by then."

A fitness center, auto museum and baseball facility are just a few of the businesses coming into the area.

Dow said the openings are something Denison Main Street has been working on for the last two and a half years and that she hopes they are just the beginning of a total revitalization of downtown Denison.

"We do have room for other businesses and I think this will spur that activity," Dow said.
