Man Drives Car into Midway Mall After Bizarre Behavior

SHERMAN, TX-- Shoppers at Midway mall were in for a shock on Friday afternoon around 4:30 PM, when a small SUV came barreling into the front door of the Sears entrance.

"Next thing I knew, there was kind of a crash noise, and he had crashed through the mall and then the power went out." Says Taylor Nolan, a mall employee.

At that point, witnesses say, they weren't sure what was going on inside the mall.
" We were all kind of clueless at that point and shut our gates." Says Nolan.

After the man  behind the wheel was arrested, mall employees, tell KTEN,  that this isn't the first time they've had a problem." It started about a day or two ago. This man, here, in question was coming into the store. He was acting sort of erratic and basically just saying a lot of mindless things and making business propositions to everyone in stores." Says Nolan.

Friday morning, employees say, things with the man seemed worse than before.
" He had melted plastic on his fingernails shaped into points. He cut one of our shoe boxes open, and was like, I can gouge people's eyes out, and I'm on my way to Jamaica and then at that point mall security apprehended him." Nolan tells KTEN.

So far, police say they're not exactly sure what prompted the man to drive into the mall, but that he's undergoing an evaluation.
"He seems to be having some psychological issues and we're sending him for evaluation for that." Says Assistant Police Chief ken Francis.

As for mall employees, they say, they're still trying to figure it all out.
" I don't know. It just doesn't make any sense."

Thankfully, no one was hurt in this incident.
