Strong Wintry Winds Blow Through Texoma

SHERMAN, TX -- Strong winds are blowing through Texoma today, after some rainy weather on Saturday put a damper on outdoor plans.

Winds will be very strong from the north between 20 and 30 mph with gusts around 35 mph.  That will make temperatures feel like they are in the 30s for most of the day.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for much of the day Sunday in Grayson, Fannin, and Cooke Counties.

Meteorologists say that means lawn furniture and other large lightweight items such as trampolines may be blown across lawns. High profile vehicles may encounter severe buffeting, while lakes will become very choppy.

Meantime, a freeze warning was issued in McCurtain County.

On Saturday, rain was moving through Grayson County around midday. The on and off showers made outdoor fun difficult, and kept highways slick.

The Sherman Parks department postponed an Easter egg hunt until next week, while another one in Tishomingo was moved indoors.
