Chet Byerly named Denison head basketball coach

DENISON, TX -- Chet Byerly will be the next head boys basketball coach for Denison High School, athletic director Chad Rogers announced via text message late Monday night.

Byerly comes from Borger, Texas where he's served as the same position for the past two years.

Byerly graduated from Brownwood High School, played at San Angelo State and has had coaching stops at Abilene High, Breckinridge Azle, Snyder, Hillsboro and El Campo.

His teams play up tempo pressure on both ends of the court, Rogers adds.

"He will be a great asset to our community, our faculty, our basketball program and our overall athletic program," Rogers also said via text message.

Byerly replaces Joe Barnett, who stepped down after the 2012-13 season.
