SHERMAN, TX - A Sherman teenager was flown to a Dallas hospital after being hit by a car, while crossing F.M. 1417 near the Creekview Apartments.
Investigators spoke with the family and found out that the boy is autistic and around 16 to 17 years old.
It happened around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the intersection of 1417 and Center Street.
Police say the boy ran from Center Street across 1417 and was hit by a man driving south on the street in a Toyota Corolla.
The boy was flown to Plano Medical Center with head injuries and a broken leg.
"At this point it doesn't appear that the driver did anything wrong, it's just an unfortunate accident and the pedestrian just ran out in front of the car," said Sherman Police Sergeant, Stephen Dean.
Investigators say the driver has a broken hand from the crash but went to TMC in a private car.
The boys parents tell investigators they think he may have been trying to go visit a friend who lives in the Creekview Apartments.
