DENISON, TX -- Donating blood in North Texas got a little easier today. The Texoma Regional Blood Center unveiled its new state of the art bloodmobile today in Sherman.
Dozens of people showed up to take a tour of the new bus. It will replace the 15 year old bloodmobile they've been using.
It has more space, more up to date facilities, and a bigger waiting area. The blood center says the new bloodmobile was made possible by donations from several non-profits in the area.
"This will make sure we always have the ability to collect the number of units we need each day to make sure that our donors can provide the blood and that our patients at our local area hospitals always have blood products when they need them," said Stacy Braddock Executive Director, Texoma Regional Blood Center.
"I know that there were many partners who helped make this happen," said Sherman Mayor Cary Wacker, "foundations and donors along with the staff of the blood center who worked so hard to pull this project together, so we're very grateful for everyone in the region who works on behalf of patients needs."
The new bloodmobile cost about $250,000. The blood center will still use the old bus during some blood drives.
