Icing Smiles provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families impacted by the critical illness of a child. To families with children battling life-threatening illnesses, birthdays take on a whole new meaning. Icing Smiles’ goal is to provide custom cakes for sick children and their siblings with the intention of offering a temporary escape from worry and creating positive memories for families during a difficult time. The volunteer-based organization relies on baking partners and sponsors and serves children in all 50 states.
Through a state sponsorship program, Icing Smiles recognizes donors who provide financial support to help cover costs that must be incurred to operate in each state. Taking the concept of map and tack from the wall to the web, Uenounter.me offers a virtual pin map with the social capacity to increase awareness about Icing Smiles. With the recent addition of a sponsor in New Mexico, Icing Smiles currently has 22 active sponsorships reflected on the State Sponsor map. Using the map at uencounter.me, Icing Smiles is able to easily demonstrate its’ geographic need.
The volunteers at Icing Smiles, Inc., provide either a ‘dream’ cake – a tiered, three dimensional or carved cake, or a ‘fun’ cake – one that does not require quite as much labor. Fun cakes allow the organization to utilize the passion and labor of hobby bakers who give so much of their time. Our professional and licensed bakers are also represented on a map at uencounter.me as a courtesy to the volunteer community.
Icing Smiles is a non-profit organization that provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families impacted by the critical illness of a child. The organization operates with more than 3,000 baking and administrative volunteers in the United States and is expanding internationally.
