SHERMAN, TX--- The Texas Department of Transportation has been approved to make speed zone changes on certain portions of U.S. Highway 82 in Sherman.
TxDot recently preformed a study to determine the best speeds for vehicles traveling on U.S. Highway 82 and from the survey, they found a speed increase is needed.
TxDOT representatives say they're going to increase the current speed limit from 55 to 60 miles per hour in the area East of Texas State Highway 91 on U.S. Highway 82. They're also hoping to increase the speed limit from 70 to 75 on the highway, West of FM 1417.
On Monday night, The Sherman City Council decided to approve the ordinance.
