GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Even though the calendar still shows February, more than a dozen people decided to take a dip in Lake Texoma, and it was all for a good cause.
The sixth annual Polar Bear Plunge was held at the Cedar Mills Marina near Gordonville on Saturday afternoon.
Participants dove off the pier into the chilly water, and then walked their way to the nearby beach to dry off.
One first-time participant from Whitesboro says the water was very chilly. "It's a lot worse than I thought it would be!" says Billy Spurgeon.
There was also a gala dinner. Organizers say last year's event raised $20,000 for the western Grayson County area Special Olympics and fire departments in Gordonville, Sadler, and Sherwood Shores.
