New Tioga police chief begins job

TIOGA, TX -- The new Tioga police chief began his official appointment Friday.

Chief Steve Thomas was sworn in during the city council meeting on Monday.

Thomas began his career in law enforcement in 1991 in Cove, Texas.

He later retired from Coppell as deputy chief of police.

Thomas leads the department which includes another full-time officer, two part time officers and two reserve officers.

"I'd really like the opportunity to go ahead and kind of, make sure that our department functions as a member of the community and not just in situations that require police attention," Thomas said.

The former Tioga police chief Carl Hudman has been appointed as chief of police in Howe.
