Collin County Deputy Sheriff and wife killed in Ladonia house fire

LADONIA, TX - Authorities say 2 people died in a house fire last night in Ladonia, Texas and lightning may be to blame.

Fire Chief Kyle Stark tells us it happened around 1:30 Sunday morning on FM 2990, about a mile and half south of 1550.

By the time fire fighters arrived the house was engulfed in flames.

He says 2 bodies were found inside.

A former Ladonia Police Chief tells us the 2 people who died were Collin County Deputy Sheriff, Richard Fields, and his wife.

The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
