Bonham Man Indicted In Toddler Death Case

BONHAM, TX -- A man accused of killing his girlfriend's daughter has been charged with murder.

On Friday morning, a grand jury indicted Michael-Chaz Herman, 25, for capital murder and injury to a child.

Police say Logan Lively, 2, died of blunt force trauma in October and that her one-year-old brother Colton, also showed signs of abuse.

Investigators believe the wounds were inflicted by the mother's boyfriend. they say the autopsy report is now complete and they will soon get it back.

"We wouldn't be filing if it was an accident we're convinced it's a capital murder," says district attorney Richard Glaser. "We're sorry that these things happen, but that's what my office is here for is to stand up for the victim's rights."

Police say both toddlers sustained blows to the head. Herman was denied bond for the murder charge and remains in the Fannin County Jail awaiting trial. Bond was set at $100,000 for the charge injury to a child.
